Day 11 in DC

Today we went over to the Arlington cemetery, were John F. Kennedy was buried and his family. So we took a tour and watched the changing of the guard, and saw a really good view of DC.
Then we went to Ben's chilly bowl and guess what yesterday night the Obama's went to dinner there! Lots of famous people go there for some reason and if you want to know why ask my dad. So there was a huge line that went all the way to the back of the rest rant! So we got to the back of the line, so we waited and when we got to the front of the line we decided to leave. So then we decided to have lunch at the Gallery of Art, so we went to their cafeteria and ate. Then we looked at the Gallery and we saw really cool art and sculptures that were very detailed. Then we looked around the gift shop and then we left for a Monument tour.
First we had to walk over there and then we had to go through security and then we waited for the elevator then rode up. There were windows to see North, East, South, and of course West. It was a really spectacular view up there.
Then we went "Home" and started packing for the trip home the real home.

Day 10 in DC

Today we went to the National Zoo and It was really fun and cool. We saw Giant Panda's and one 5 year old panda. And we went to the gift shop and it had all panda stuff! And we saw basically all the things that we have at the Woodland park Zoo. Then we went to the Lincoln exhibit and we saw his hat that he last wore the night he was asasinated, his gun, molds of his face and hands, and some Mary's things at the American History Museum and then went to go see the Mammals at the Natural History Museum, while Mari-Ann went to the Holocaust Museum. The Holocaust Museum was a memorial for the people who died because of Hitler and the Nazis. Then we got a ride "home."

Day 9 in DC

I didn't really get to sleep in even though it was 9:00 but that is 6:00 AM in Seattle (cause I haven't really gotten used to the time here.) So we rode off to go to the International Spy Museum. We got over to the Spy Museum but we were a bit early so we went to Starbucks. Then when we got all non-thirsty we went to the Spy Museum and got in. We got in an elevator and it told us some things but I couldn't really catch what she was saying. Then when we got to this room we had to watch this video of what to and that was to choose a cover. So we all chose a cover and had to memorize it. And mine was:
NAME: CAROL LUI
AGE: 42
DESTINATION: USA
JOB: ARCHITECT
FROM: AUSTRALIA
TIME STAYING: 12 DAYS

So that was all I remembered but I bet there was more to mine. So then we ran out of time. Then we got to see the museum. And you got to see cool spy gadgets and there was a video of how to open a locked door with these to things which I have no idea what they were. So then we saw all these spy things and then we got to a room and it had two computer touch screens and you touched the cover you chose and you got tested if you are suspicious, and I got to get out of the country but they were going to check if I was suspicious.
Then we went down to the gift shop and I got a motion alarm. Then we went to a place called "Hard Rock Cafe" and I got a hot dog and a chocolate milk shake. So when I got my food and milk shake I didn't like the chocolate milk shake so we traded it in for a vanilla milk shake. So then when I got my vanilla shake it spilled and it spilled all over me! So me and my mom went to the bathroom to clean it of and then our nice waiter gave me an ice cream sundae and it was really good. So then we went to the gift shop there and my sister got a "Hard Rock Cafe hat."
We then went back to the Air and Space museum because the plasma stick thing that Maya got was broken and so we returned it and I got a mini plasma, but it had a stand that it was on and it doesn't use batteries. So then when we got all our stuff then we went to the Smithsonian castle.
There wasn't much to see there, all there was ,was stuft animals (but real stuft animals.) and that's pretty much it. So then we left and we went over to see the sculpture park, and they have the same eraser as in our sculpture park! So we saw some other cool things and one of the coolest things was an ice skating rink in the middle of the park! But the sad thing was that my prents wouldn't let me and Maya go in the the rink! So then we went over to the metro and went "home."

Day 8 in DC

I didn't really get to sleep in but I slept pretty well. So we got up and got dressed and ate some good breakfast. Then we went to the American Indian Museum. We saw lots of really cool things there, it was so big that we didn't even get to see half of it! Well then we went over to their cafeteria, and it was really full. And I got Root Beer of course, a cheese burger, and key lime pie. Then we left and went to the Air and Space Museum, and there were some pretty cool airplanes there. We even saw the Wright brother's planes. And we went and looked at some cool interactive planes. Then we went to the gift shop and Maya got a plasma stick thing and then we left and went to the national garden.

There were some really cool places and things to see there. I took lots of pictures of cacti and flowers and other plants. Then we went to the sculpure garden and saw some creative things. Then we went over to the metro stop and went over to our stop and went "home".

The Inauguration!

The Inauguration was finally here! We woke up really early about 6 AM then had a very good breakfast. Then we got all dressed up like marshmallows and went out the door to the metro. When we got to the metro there were lots and lots of people , especially in line for metro tickets. We got through and waited. And there was this one metro that had to wait about 20 minutes, but it went after a while. Then the next metro came and we had to jam ourselves into the car then we had to wait in the car for the metro to move and it eventually did. Then we had to stop between every stop for about 5 minutes. And then finally after after about 50 minutes we got of and no one was lost. (YAY!) So then when we got outside there were millions of people walking everywhere from every direction! But we managed to get to a good spot. Then we listened to bands and some other music, then after an hour and a half the Inauguration started. First there were about 5 or 6 people who talked and then Joe Biden took the oath. Then someone sang a song and then Barrack Obama took the oath, and while that was happening I was on my dads shoulders to take some pictures and to watch Obama and when the oath was over the person in front of us was so excited that he flung his head back and whacked my head and he didn't even notice. Then we watched Obama's president speech. Then when it was over we went to the world war two memorial. Then we went to the Vietnam memorial, and then walked around. Then we went over to the metro stop and rode "Home" then watched some of the first Inaugural ball. Then went to bed.

And going to the Inauguration and having a black president is very amazing, cause no one thought there would ever be a black president at all and they thought it could never happen but it did, and I got to be a part of a very important thing and I was very grateful that I could be there for it.

Day 6 in DC

It was about 9 when I woke up, and we had well I had a bowl of cereal and then we just hung around. Then my sister had to go to Young Heroes at 10:00 (but not in Seattle, but in DC.) then me and my mom just did nothing except lay around all day. Then Maya and my grandma and dad came back around 1:30. Then we decided to go to Mount Vernon. So we got there and there were about 2 lines to get in and they were all 9th graders. So we started a new line and we luckily got in. Then we walked around the visitor center well I think it was the visitor center, and we got to see a model of Washington's house. Then we went over to his house and then saw a huge enormous line and so we decided not to wait an hour just to see his house. So then we saw the old tomb that George and Martha were buried and then we saw the new tomb where they are buried. Then we walked around and saw his kitchen, stables, and storage houses also other things. Then we were done cause it was getting crowded. So we went to the gift shop. (Can you imagine how much chaos that caused!) So then we all met up and a certain point when we were done getting souvenirs. Then we left and when we left the parking lot there were about 30 tour buses lined up to go to Mount Vernon, so we got out of there in time. Then some boys and girls came over who are our friends nieces and nephews came over and we went over to their house and played Guitar Hero. Then we went back and went to bed.

Day 5 in DC

We woke up at 8:45 and breakfast was already set out for us. And ate a lot. Then we packed up all our stuff and stuffed it in our car then left. We got to our other friends house and settled in. (like it was home.) Then we went to a concert and saw lots of celeberty singers! And it was really fun but then my feet were numb and I couldn't move them so we went "Home". Then we had dinner. Then we went to bed (and this time we didn't have to sleep on the floor!) and we slept pretty well.
